Making your perfect cup of coffee at home!
I could write... and write... and write... about how I make my perfect cup. But my process is very similar to the one in this Youtube video. Plus it is by Food Network! So it's a lot more fun to watch!

Frangelico Coffee
I was finally able to try out a new coffee flavor I received from my brother on Christmas. It is called Frangelico coffee. Frangelico is made of a hazelnut liquor. This flavor is not overpowering and is very delightful. It tastes like someone dipped a Ferrero Rochet chocolate in my coffee maker. This particular blend that I am enjoying is from the Grande Kaffe Collection and can be ordered direct from their website.

Arabica or Robusto?
Arabica beans are grown in higher altitude tropical climates and require more care than the lower altitude Robusto beans. There is an increasingly large difference between the two types of beans in terms of flavor and caffeine content. If you care about getting caffeine, go for the Robusto. But, you will sacrifice flavor in return. Gas stations, Dunkin Donuts, and other fast food places will use the Robusto beans to keep the cost of their coffee down. Although, I have noticed that I can get a better coffee from a local coffee shop for cheaper than Dunkin Donuts lately. People who drink a lot of Robusto have a difficult time drinking Arabica because there is more flavor in the bean. These beans can be found at McDonald's, Starbucks, and most major coffeehouses. Arabica does have a lower caffeine content than Robusto. Arabica coffee is meant to be enjoyed, not gulped.
Hard to tell the difference when they are both roasted!
Some of my friends and I have recently learned that we can not drink Robusto coffee due to it's higher caffeine content. If you want to make sure that you are getting Arabica coffee, check and make sure that your favorite place is serving a 100% Columbian blend, as this is the only coffee that Columbia produces. If it is from Vietnam, it is Robusto coffee as they have increased their production to meet global demands. Watch what you drink!

The funniest e-card about our favorite addiction!
Sure, I could have just tweeted the youtube video below until I was blue in the face just to make sure all of you saw it. But where's the fun in that? Some people might find Hoops and YoYo annoying, but I think they are a great and exaggerated view of our adult work life. And being a bit sassy helps. Enjoy!
Bonus: When I worked in retail, one of my friends and I used to chant this every morning while it was brewing. I told you coffee addiction is serious! :-)

Coffeehouses with Heart
Starbucks has a very successful business model. And because of this model, it has changed the way coffeehouses and fast food restaurants do business. Many places realized that if you give people a reason to hangout and spend time in your establishment, they will more likely spend money with you in the future. This business model has moved bookstores, like Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million to have in-store coffee shops. Some libraries have done so as well to keep up with the market and create more foot traffic.
Besides a successful business model, Starbucks is a leader in converting themselves into a green business with community involvement and support for a clean environment. This support in the environment is essential because climate change will make our daily cup more and more expensive in years to come. Coffee is no longer a luxury item for Americans, it is a necessity. As much as I try to support the local coffeehouses, I feel more at ease buying an occasional frappaccino from Starbucks knowing that a portion of the money I spend supports a climate-conscious program.

Hardee's Quietly Introduces New Coffee
I guess it took awhile for me to getting around to noticing that Hardee's had ditched Channel Island Coffee for a 100% Columbian Blend. Hardee's is probably not a restaurant you want to eat at everyday, but it is the darling fast food restaurant of the South. In other words, yes, give their coffee another try!
